Position Summary
The C.A.S.T. student worker assists the College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology Dean and Office Coordinator with assigned tasks as well as Music Department faculty with organization of music, copies, data entry, performances, and concert and department publicity. This position relies on the ability to take both direction and initiative.
The position will require the student to work approximately 10 hours per week, but the schedule can be flexible to fit the student’s availability. Most work is performed in front of a computer. Some lifting (25 lbs.) and occasional evening/weekend work is required.
Essential Functions
- Supports College of Arts, Sciences, & Technology Dean and Office Coordinator with events.
- Creates and posts publicity posters for CAST events in relevant places on campus.
- Assists with applied music lesson registration, including compiling data on spreadsheets.
- Regularly updates Eagle webpage, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Assists with music scholarship auditions, preparing documents and information, and overseeing guest experience during the auditions while keeping the auditions on schedule.
- Completes day-of tasks for events/concerts (except for Choralons), including set-up, tear-down, and ushering (as available).
- Copies programs for all music department events as needed (except Choralons).
- Organizes and maintains music library, music storage, and instrument inventory, including copying and filing music.
- Tidies up the music storage room and practice rooms as needed.
- Maintains supply shelves in various CAST office areas.
- Copies /scans /prints documents for faculty.
- Enters attendance records for faculty / grades minor assignments from time to time.
Education/Experience/Skills
Current CAST majors are strongly encouraged to apply, as are students involved in music ensembles.
Skills: customer service, attention to detail, organization, professionalism, visual creativity (graphics), professional writing style, and social media proficiency
