Position Summary
This position is the primary point of contact for students, other university offices, adjunct and current faculty, and outside contacts. Most communication occurs over email, although some in-person interaction is expected. Therefore, the employee must have effective communication skills across mediums, a professional and friendly demeanor, and an ability to interact positively and efficiently with diverse populations.
This position is responsible for connecting individuals with the resources needed to carry out their necessary tasks (i.e., students with dissertation editor). With many program and university policies to learn, the employee must demonstrate resourcefulness and a willingness to ask questions. University employees work with and have access to sensitive information; employees are therefore expected to maintain a strict level of confidentiality. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, can work independently and has strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide coordination of PsyD program operations including oversight of semester operations, assist with competency assessment and the APA (American Psychological Association) self-study, and general program coordination. This position is 1.0 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) (40 hours).
Essential Functions
- Coordinate PsyD program semester operations (e.g., syllabi, discovery, grades, attendance, student registration, out-of-town faculty assistance, etc.)
- Assist with PsyD competency evaluation and the APA self-study
- Oversee dissertation binding and publication
- Provide program administrative assistance to the PsyD Director and Clinical Director
- Answer phone calls, emails, and questions and manage PsyD webpages
- Assist Director with organizing PsyD Cultural Immersion trip
- Work with faculty on program handbook updates and policy implementation
- Purchase psychological assessments materials and other program supplies
- Assist with CSBS (College of Social and Behavioral Sciences) or PsyD annual or semester events (e.g., orientation, new student welcome night, group interview, graduation dinner, etc.)
- Oversee PsyD student graduation eligibility and coordinate with Registrar’s Office regarding student graduation status
- Manage PsyD cohort dinners and RAD (Research and Dissertation) teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree; a social science field strongly preferred.
- Proficient computer knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience working in an office setting.
- Experience in customer service.
- An ability to be detail-orientated and multi-task effectively.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and creative abilities and skills
- Capability to maintain confidentiality is crucial
- Must have compassion and commitment to serve poor and undervalued groups, keeping with the vision of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
- Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination.

Working Environment
- Work is generally performed indoors in a typical office setting.
- Some weekend/evening work required.
- Travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
- Position works with strictly confidential information.
- Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time.
- May be exposed to loud noise levels.
Physical Demands
The functions are usually performed while sitting or standing, but may involve some amount of time sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting (max. of 40 lbs.), walking, carrying, reaching, stretching, climbing, perform repetitive motions of the hands or wrists and other movements. The abilities of seeing, hearing, and speaking are also required.
Compensation
Based on education and experience, the position has a hiring range of $20.00/hour to $21.84/hour plus excellent benefits.
